Table Tennis Training - Practicing Ping Pong When Time is Short

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

We don't always have the time to play as much table tennis as we would like to. We get caught up with work, school, or some other performance that limits our capability to focus on our game. So during periods where training time is limited, what is the most considerable aspect of the game to work on?

Sure we could custom our loop or our smash, but is that surely a good idea? If you haven't been practicing, chances are your loop or smash won't even come into play because of the weakness of your serve and serve return. This limitation will enable your opponent to deal with your serve very surely and put you out of position early in the point. You'll end up having to make high level shots that need hours of custom just to stay in the point. In addition, you will not be able to effectively prevent your opponent from attacking off his/her own serve, which will lead to even more difficulty. So with a weak serve and return of serve, when will you be able to use the forehand loop you practiced?

Table Tennis

This should make the point clear that when time is very limited, work on your serve and serve return. At the very least, you will not be at a major disadvantage early in the point and will have a best opening of staying in and possibly even winning the point. If you neglect your serve and serve return, you will not be able to effectively enter into a rally and will always be at a major disadvantage and have to make very difficult shots in order to win.

If you do sufficient of these exhibitions ultimately you will become a household name.

But putting on an exhibition is not as easy as just saying let's do one. A lot of belief and planning needs to go into these. Below you will find some of the basic things you'll need to do and some tips that will make your exhibition go smoothly.

Table Tennis

For starters, you're going to want to make sure that people know about it. The last thing you want is to put on an exhibition and nobody shows up. So you're going to have to do a tiny advertising. If you don't have a big budget, try small local papers. If you have a tiny more money to spend you can try one of the more favorite table tennis magazines. Only do what you can afford, but make sure you get the word out.

How to Table Tennis Tips - Playing Exhibitions

Once you're at the exhibition, make sure everything is set up correctly. Bring a checklist to make sure that you don't miss anything. The last thing you want is to have to have somebody run out and get something that you forgot. Make sure you bring plenty of balls and extra paddles. Why? Simple. At exhibitions the people coming to watch may very well want to get involved. Audience participation is one of the best ways to build up a good name for yourself. Be friendly. Encourage those in attendance to get involved. To do that, you're going to need sufficient equipment to go around.

While putting on your exhibition, use multi ball to show the audience how you train at the top level. Don't be a show off but impress upon those in attendance how leading it is to train hard for your matches.

Also, it's a good idea when putting on these exhibitions to get some local help. If there are local table tennis players who are available, ask them to give you a hand. This will make them feel leading and also ease the burden on you. Putting one of these things on by yourself is not easy. So get all the help you can.

Keep an eye on the time. You don't want the proceedings to drag on for too long. An hour or so should be long sufficient to get your point across and get everyone involved.

When playing with a member of the audience don't show off. Teach them and also give them a chance to play. You're there to try to build up confidence. If someone should challenge you to a real game, try to lob for a cheap whole of time before going for the kill shot. You want these games to be animated and exciting.

After you are all finished, allow people to take pictures and make sure you sign everyone's autograph request.

When you arrive back home, send thank you notes to everyone who participated.

Follow the tips above and you'll have an exhibition that everyone will enjoy.

This also takes all of the guess work out of the process for you because the bats and balls are designed to work together. Many sets also include carrying cases and additional nets.

If you want to buy these items individually, start out with normal bats that highlight smooth rubber. Don't spend a lot of money on the bats at first because you will need to play for a while before you get a feel for your style of play. Once you make a style, then you can shell out for higher-end bats with specialty rubber. Likewise, you can begin with the cheapest balls available, 0 stars, until you come to be more serious.

Bouncing

Outdoor Tt tables' surfaces are incredibly bouncy with faster speeds and play in the middle of players. This gives advantages to those who play a speedier game on an outdoor table and a game of spins on an indoor table.

Thickness

Outdoor Tt tables with a 19mm top is perfectly good for home use. For a bonded resin and melamine tables, however, thicknesses are commonly less. A 5mm melamine top provides very good play. Very thin melamine tops (below 4mm) are not very satisfactory as the bounce tends to be too hollow, and they don't often keep their flat shape for very long.

Good outdoor tables are commonly more costly than an equivalent indoor table, based purely on materials. You'll probably need to buy a fAirly good potential table in order to get the level of weatherproofing you need. As usual, for best potential you have to pay more.

Guarantee

Good melamine tops might last longer than treated wooden tops - for example, Cornilleau offers a 10 year certify on their bonded resin tops as opposed to 5 years maximum certify on weatherproof wooden tops. Whichever face you select for an outdoor table, and anything the guarantee, the lifetime of a table stored face can be prolonged by using a cover, which keeps the worst of the elements at bay, together with direct sunlight which can have a detrimental follow on a table over many years.

Conclusion
So there you have it, to choosing a outdoor Tt table. select wisely and you will be sure to get years of good service, and hopefully years of good services, from your trusty table tennis table.

How We Can All increase The Popularity of Table Tennis

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

Here's a post I recently wrote on the Ooak Table Tennis Forum that got some inescapable feedback. I wrote it in response to a lot of posters being upset by Australia's not bringing home any medals from the Commonwealth Games and a lot of them saying that more government funding was necessary. Anyway, here it is. Hope you enjoy.

I think we're all missing a great chance here. I agree that Tt deserves government funding for health benefits as others pointed out, but there are loads of other sports that keep people fit that are much more popular, so any funding will go there first. And saying table tennis will never be as favorite as other sports because it doesn't go well with Tv is a cop-out in my opinion. Since I've been watching table tennis, I can't watch regular tennis anymore because I find it so slow. And I know there are loads of people out there who feel the same way. Table tennis will work on Tv, it might just need some visual aids to help the casual viewer understand spin etc. And maybe a commentator with a colourful personality.

Table Tennis

What needs to happen right now is grassroots promotion of the sport by us, the players. This means that if one of your non-Tt friends asks you about Tt, you should be willing to talk their ear off about how great it is. This is not happening at the occasion in my contact but that's how a collective movement starts: word of mouth. More passionate existing players = attraction of new players = more Tv coverage = more government funding = more medals = even more new players. The first steps are the hardest work, but how much do we want it? I'm pretty sure everybody on this forum wants it actually bad. This whole process could take 20 years, maybe more but we gotta start somewhere.

How to How We Can All increase The Popularity of Table Tennis

Let's break it down so it doesn't seem so hard. Ive heard that there are 20 million registered players in China. I was surprised that this is less than 2% of the population. But never mind, let's aim for 2% in our respective countries. Do you think you could walk in to a room of 100 people and convince just 2 of them to join your local club. Doesn't sound too hard does it? But let's make it even easier. Here's a quote from other thread.

mynamenotbob wrote:The state of table tennis in the United States is quite bizarre and fractured. There are only 8,000 or so Usatt-registered players although I keep hearing these estimates of 10 to 20 million who play some form of table tennis here annually. The game is actually an inexpressive sport in this country.

Ok great. Lets estimate 15 million in the Us, or about 5% of the people (sorry don't know exact people of the Us). These guys are our prime target. If you walked into a room of 100 of these guys, how many of them do you think you could convince to join your local club? Remember, they already play some form of Tt, so they should be a lot easier to talk nearby than the first group of 100. I'm going to say 10. If this is true, than that means we have an "easy" 0.5%, (or 1/4 of our total target 2%) of the people flooding to the Tt clubs of the Us or 1.5 million. 1.5 million is a lot harder for a government to ignore than the current 8,000 registered players. Assume similar percentages for other countries and things start to look actually good.

Ok, in hindsight, I've made a lot of estimations in this post that might be off, but the basic view is still valid. Be proud of your chosen sport and tell others about it. You can make others care by showing how much you care. Also, when I say "walk into a room of 100 people" it implies collective sPeaking in front of strangers, but this is not what I actually mean. How many Facebook friends do you have? It's pretty easy to start with these people who already know you and are more willing to listen to what you say.

So there you go, "Statistically expanding Popularity of Table Tennis with Zero Government Funding 101". It won't be quick. It won't be easy. But if we want it enough, it will happen.
