Singapore Table Tennis - Feng Tian Wei Vs Li Jiawei

How to

Singapore's Feng Tian Wei continues her meteoric rise by thrashing World No2 Guo Yue from China 4-1 in the quarter-final at the Volkswagen Women Table Tennis World Cup last night.

The youngest member of the Singapore Women Table Tennis team has now beaten World No 1 Zhang Yi Ning of China (She created a major upset by defeating Zhang Yi Ning 4-2 at the Asian Cup quarter-final in March) and World No 2 Guo Yue of China this year.

At the Olympics, China's Women Head Coach Shi Zhihao revealed to the New Paper that he felt Feng Tian Wei had greater inherent than Li Jiawei to become a top Table Tennis player.

How to Singapore Table Tennis - Feng Tian Wei Vs Li Jiawei

'If you ask me to correlate Feng Tianwei with Li Jiawei, I would say Feng has the inherent to go very far.'

'She may not have reached the last four like Jiawei, but she has caught my eye at this Olympics. I didn't expect her to originate so many problems for Zhang Yining in the quarter-final.'

'She has clearly benefitted from the foundation training she received when she was in our 'B' team.'

'In fact, she was on the verge of forcing her way into the first team, but because of some illness, she pulled out of the team. '

'At the moment, I would say she has a 30 per cent occasion of beating our players.'

Having watched Li Jiawei play on television for the past few years, she tend to struggle against choppers. At the Olympics Team Semi-Final, she failed to overcome her nemesis and lost to Korea's Kim Kyung Ah 2-3 (11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 6-11, 9-11) in the second Singles.

After the semi-final win, Jiawei admitted she plan her loss in the Singles would be a very precious one as the strategy to beat South Korea was to win the first two Singles matches as South Korea was expected to clinch the Doubles.

I must admit that when the semi-final match was at 2-2, I was glad that Feng Tian Wei was playing in the choosing rubber instead of Li Jiawei. (She tend to lose her nerves in principal matches in the past) True enough, Feng Tian Wei held her nerve to beat Park Mi-Young in the choosing rubber.

At the Athens Games four years ago, Jiawei had also lost to Kim Kyung Ah in the bronze-medal playoff.

When Singapore reached the Olympics Table Tennis Team Final, Li Jiawei felt there was no way Singapore could ever beat China. Maybe this psychological barrier was the key calculate that prevented her from achieving greater success.

It's a fact that China has a fearsome table-tennis team. The top ranking paddlers all hail from China yet it does not mean they are invincible.

Feng Tian Wei and coach Liu Guodong truly do not think so.

Between Li Jiawei and Feng Tian Wei, Tian Wei plays with more confidence and is more versatile.

Singapore Women Table Tennis Head Coach Liu Guo Dong believes Feng Tian Wei is ready to be the top paddler in Singapore.

"Based on her results and her hunger to do well, she's ready to share the responsiblity with Jiawei." - Liu said in an interview with the Straits Times (08 Sep).

I truly agree.

American Table Tennis - How "Ping Pong Diplomacy" Put American Table Tennis on the World Map

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

Although not as supreme or quite as favorite as other pro-sports in the world today, American Table Tennis has been colse to for longer than you think. For those who were lucky sufficient to have been colse to at the time, a enchanting but foremost cultural event transpired roughly four decades ago in the land where Table Tennis is possibly more revered and respected than any other sport: Japan. Most people who know about this part in America's rich history refer to it as "Ping Pong Diplomacy" when relations between the two world superpowers were not as open as they are today.

It was while a visit to Japan in 1971 by the United States Table Tennis team where Glenn Cowan, a flamboyant but beautifully gifted player trained a limited too long and just happened to miss the team bus. A Japanese official had come by and informed Cowan and his Japanese sparring partner that their time was up; the training factory was to be terminated for the evening.

While trying frantically to search the rest of his team members in a sea of unfamiliar faces, a player aboard the Chinese team bus waived Cowan over and told him to get on their bus instead.   As the bus travelled along, the players from opposite sides of the world struck up a conversation with the aid of a translator. Zhuang Zedong, a member of the Chinese squad realized the chance for relationship building and chose diplomacy over heavily ingrained cultural responsibilities.

How to American Table Tennis - How "Ping Pong Diplomacy" Put American Table Tennis on the World Map

Coming transmit towards Cowan, Zhuang Zedong tapped him lightly upon the shoulders and proceeded to gift him with a gorgeous silk-screen portrait of the Huangshan Mountains. Cowan immediately understood and read the situation correctly by trying to find something of equal value in return, all he could muster up after rifling desperately straight through his entire Gym bag's worth of belongings was an old comb certainly unworthy of the magnitude of the situation.

Instead of offering a sub-par gift, Cowan left the Chinese team bus and was immediately greeted by the press and hoards of photographers because it's not daily you see an American born table tennis player exiting a Team China bus with a smile on his face and a gift firmly in hand. He would have to wait for someone else opportune time to return the favour.

Glen Cowan would get his chance ultimately and presented Zhuang Zedong with a patriotic American t-shirt with the words "Let it Be" emblazoned on the front in clear red, white, and blue lettering. Suffice it to say that the cultural tensions experienced while the 1960's and throughout the 1970's between these two countries were well chronicled in history books, but instead of going with the flow, these two particular athletes saw past the restrictions and limitations that society has a tendency of placing upon our humble shoulders and took the chance to see what cooperation and camaraderie can nothing else but look like. This might not have been possible with any other sport.

So the next time whatever happens to ask you what American Table Tennis is nothing else but about, let them know about this "Ping Pong Diplomacy" between the U.S. And Japan.

Where to Learn Tennis in Singapore

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

Singapore has excellent Tennis centres and coaching facilities. Learning Tennis in Singapore is easy. I found that Tennis lessons or Tennis coaching can be arranged from the following entities:

1.Private Tennis Lessons

Table Tennis

There are discrete levels of tennis qualifiCations offered by the Singapore Tennis relationship (Sta). Go for someone with at least a Level 1 qualifiCation. Most would charge a basic fee of per hour, excluding court booking fees, if needed. There are group classes as well, usually, not more than 3 persons. Try seeing for at least 3 of your fellow friends who wish to learn to play tennis and get an private tennis coach. It will save you some money while still being properly trained.

2.Group Tennis Lessons

Group tennis classes are found at the discrete group tennis centres. These classes are for both children and adults. The benefits of such group classes are that they tend to be cheaper. However, the class size tends to be larger and therefore, you may not pick up the skill as fast as you would have wished. It would be great to have a composition of group and hidden private lessons. You will get the best of both worlds, playing with others and also being coached more effectively.

3.School Tennis Cca

Tennis is a Cca for some original and secondary schools. Again, the class size tends to be quite big but it is a good and fun way to learn your tennis among your peers. It is also subsidized and is therefore, cheaper. Some schools make Cca compulsory and therefore, if tennis is something you child likes, make tennis his or her Cca then.

4.Tennis Sections and Clubs

Unfortunately, there are not many purely tennis clubs in Singapore. However, there are many country clubs with tennis sections. Tennis sections are a good way to start improving your tennis once you are able to play fairly well. Nothing beats playing more and more against someone of your level or higher.

5.Tennis Academies

Unlike the more established tennis playing nations, we do not precisely have a thriving and ability tennis academy. Tennis is not even featured in the South East Asian games for Singapore. Hence, tennis is not one of those preferred sport which is earmarked for additional improvement unlike its sister sport of Table tennis. However, one can all the time head north to Malaysia or Thailand where they have discrete tennis camps which cater to all levels of play. It is an arduous and very effective way of improving your tennis as you do nothing but eat, sleep and breathe tennis for a few days!

International Table Tennis - Olympic Games

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

In order to be considered for inclusion in the Olympic Games, a sport must be considered by the International Olympic Committee (Ioc) to be widely practiced nearby the world. The sport of Table Tennis well meets this criterion. There are more than 40 million competing Table Tennis players in the world, and that does not comprise the countless numbers who play recreationally in basements, garages, society centers and the like. These numbers make table tennis the most practiced sport nearby the globe.

Table tennis debuted as a part of the Olympic Games schedule in 1988 at the Seoul Games. There were four events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, and women's doubles. The doubles events were dropped from the schedule at the 2008 Beijing Games and supplanted by team events, with both a men's and a women's team consisting of three players from each country.

Table Tennis

In an endeavor to make table tennis more enjoyable for the midpoint spectator, the International Table Tennis Federation (Ittf) instituted several changes at the end of 2000. The size of the ball was increased from 38mm to 40mm. By increasing the size of the ball game play was slowed making it easier for spectators to succeed the ball. Ittf also changed the way it scored the game lowering the winning score from 21 points to 11. The Ittf is currently considering additional changes to pronounce worldwide interest in the sport. As China continues to dominate the medal field, there is concern that spectators surface of China will lose interest in the sport. Of the 76 medals awarded while the history of Olympic table tennis, China has won 41. Even when a player from someone else country wins a medal in table tennis, more and more often that player is of Chinese descent. The Ittf is looking into regulations that would preclude players from animated from their home country solely to report someone else country at the Olympics. Players leave China because competition for a spot on the national team is so fierce. With more players from China ranking in the world's top 20 than any other country, some of the best table tennis players in the world do not make it to the Olympics simply because of logistics.

How to International Table Tennis - Olympic Games

Once each country's team is selected and competition begins, the top 16 seeded players have a period of waiting while the remaining athletes compete in a knock-out tournament to determine which players will occupy the 16 additional spots. Singles matches are played to the best of seven games. Team competitions are played in a round-robin sequence. In the first stage, groups of four teams compete with the winners advancing to a playoff stage. The winners in each group continue to compete until the two remaining teams compete for silver and gold. The runner-ups and semi-final losers compete for the bronze.

While table tennis is a sport enjoyed by many, its status as part of the Olympic Games could be in jeopardy due to funds constraints loCated by individual country's funding sources. When countries are forced to prioritize their budgets they tend to focus on sports in which their athletes stand a good chance of earning a medal. As a small minority of countries continues to dominate the sport, other countries are opting out of sending representatives to compete in table tennis. They do not want to spend their Olympic dollars to train athletes who are not likely to earn a medal. The Ittf hopes the regulations currently under observation will equilibrium the playing field and keep participation at standard levels.

Pre Made Table Tennis Bats Vs custom Made

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

In Table Tennis you can choose between one of two bat choices. You can whether choose a pre made bat which is already assembled with a blade, a forehand and backhand rubber or the convention made choice where you have the flexibility to choose your own rubbers and blade. In this article I will discuss both options so that you can resolve the best type of bat that would suit your needs.

Pre Made Table Tennis Bats
As I mentioned above, pre made bats are installation assembled which basically means they can be obtained relatively absolutely without too much problem. It also means that you do not have to worry about what type of rubbers or blade to use. Another benefit with using a pre made bat is they are often cheaper than convention bats due to them being mass produced and being preassembled and supplied to sell suppliers direct from the factory.

Table Tennis

Overall, I would recommend pre made bats for the beginning player new to the sport, but if you are a more experienced player then you may want to reconsider acquiring a convention bat which we will discuss in the next section.

How to Pre Made Table Tennis Bats Vs custom Made

Custom Table Tennis Bats
Custom made table Tennis bats are ordinarily assembled by players who buy a blade of their choice and then buy two rubbers (one black and one red) to glue onto the forehand and backhand side of the new bat. A convention bat is popular with more experienced players as they are aWare what strengths they have and therefore know what they need as far as choosing the best and most thorough rubbers to compliment their personal playing style. This is the main benefit of playing with a convention bat.

However, it needs to be mentioned that the blade and rubbers that make up a convention bat which are purchased separately can often be very costly.

Table Tennis - Something About Table

Digital Photography Secretsby David Peterson Click Here!
How to

Table Tennis resembles the game of Tennis. The game, also known as Ping Pong, is a fast paced racket and ball game commonly played indoors. The game, which can be played by two or four persons, has gained popularity as a recreational as well as competing sport.

The game, as the name imply, is played on a Table having a length of nine feet (2.74 meters) and breadth of five feet (1.52 meters). A six inch high net loCated breadth wise divides the Table into two equal opposing halves. A white colored stripe runs length wise down the center. But this line is used only for doubles game. The exterior of the Table is commonly made of a two inch thick particle board or ply board. The height of the table can be adjusted as per requirements.

Table Tennis

You must have seen the ball bouncing along with each shot delivered by the player. This is due to the high resilience of the board. In olden days, a easy table with a net at the middle was standard. But with the demands of the changing times, table Tennis tables have also undergone many changes. Tables with differing designs have flooded the market. Manufacturers have come up with tables with dissimilar features. Some tables come in two equal parts with a lateral coupling hole on one side and a lateral bar on the other. The bar is inserted in the coupling hole which effectively locks two pieces together. Packing and shipping is made easier by employing this method. Most high end models ready are collapsible and portable.

Much care needs to be given to the base on which the table stands. A rickety and unstable table is a sure no-no. Manufacturers give much importance to strengthening the base or legs of the table. Addition of reinforcing bars and beams cuts out all possibilities of instability. Wood or aluminum is commonly used to build the bases. Arch shaped bases lend a level of novelty and also increase stability. However, the most beloved are the wheeled tables which can be moved away as per convenience. Locking devices prevent the table from spirited while a game is on.

Tables with height adjustment features help children and disabled to play the game. Wheel chair ridden players can take heart as some models have been in case, granted with specially designed leg assembly where legs are attached about forty centimeters underneath the table making entry and exit of wheelchairs easy, as per the requirement of the game. In approved tables, such maneuver is difficult. Colors of table tops also vary. However, blue is the most approved one. High density chipboard lends high playability to the exterior of the table. Reinforcement strips along the sides of the table exterior increases its durability.

Along with functionality, killer looks and portability are the most sought after features in a table tennis table. Aesthetically designed tables add to the amenity of the game. If you are a table tennis enthusiast and is planning to buy a table, checking up the Internet sites of assorted manufacturers would contribute you an insight into the features and pRices of models available. Table Tennis, though it may have just been a hobby until now, have some rules and regulations that you should know. You can invest in books or a ping pong Dvd to get started, but then you should put all of the new things that you learn into practice.

There are some mistakes that you should avoid, such as a poor grip on the paddle, in order to maximize your scoring potential. Start with conventional grips, and seek out harder positions once you have mastered the basics. You should also avoid trying to steer the ball, which can really slow down your reaction time. Getting the tips from a book may have worked in the past, but you should give yourself every chance to excel as soon as possible.
